The rigid secular humanism that dominates in our public schools and universities, in our courts, and in our media needs to give way to a distinctly Christian humanist vision. Such a vision seeks to affirm that we are free, rational creatures who possess innate dignity and whose lives and achievements are of intrinsic value (humanism), while acknowledging that we are fallen creatures in need of grace. It seeks further to embrace divine revelation as a check and a complement to human reason. Finally, it seeks to revive a clear sense that we live in a moral universe that is not only imbued with goodness, truth, and beauty, but in which the Good, the True, and the Beautiful are real and knowable things.
